About me

My name is Magnus Thyselius

and I'm 37 years old, from Gothenburg, Sweden. This is a space where I showcase my work and knowledge I've picked up along the way. Combining my passion for IT and learning has been a continuous thread throughout my life and career. With my long background in IT and my educational training as a preschool teacher, I have understood the power of using technology to promote learning and development. My burning interest in IT and digitalization was born in childhood, where my siblings and I competed to understand and master the rapidly growing world of technology. My journey in IT began with self-taught knowledge and experience from working in IT support and network technology, which over the years has deepened my skills in areas such as Exchange, Active Directory, and network technology. At the same time, I developed my educational competence by helping people solve technical problems while also teaching them how and why things work as they do. During my time as an IT manager at a company in Uppsala, I led several projects focused on integrating technology into the learning environment and promoting digital competence among employees. I have seen changes create opportunities and open doors to new ways of learning and growing. This experience has inspired me to continue exploring and developing new methods and tools to enhance learning through technology. My most recent role as IT manager at a fashion company allowed me to work on digitalizing the business and creating an efficient and innovative work environment. I saw how technology could improve both work processes and customer experiences, further strengthening my conviction about the power of combining IT and learning. My pedagogical competence continued to grow through my education and work as a preschool teacher. During my studies in the preschool teacher program, I wrote my bachelor thesis as a systematic literature review trying to get a better understanding on how digital tools can support children in learning.
Purpose of this Digital Portfolio

Throughout my master's journey,

each project has offered valuable insights and experiences that reflect the learning goals of my courses and the broader objectives of the program. As I document some of these projects, That I find the most valuable, I'll outline why specific materials were created and retained, highlighting their relevance to the course outcomes and long-term applicability to my field. My upcoming master's thesis will focus on developing digital learning games, specifically tailored to educational purposes for younger children. This aligns directly with my career ambition to contribute meaningfully to the world of educational technology, creating immersive and interactive digital games that foster learning and curiosity in young minds. Through this, I hope to bridge the worlds of play and education, crafting experiences that engage and educate simultaneously. The creation of this portfolio aligns with the learning outcomes of the course PDA675 which states that I should be able to reflect on and document their own knowledge and experience in relation to future work life possibilities in a portfolio discuss social and technical sustainability issues within the research and applied field of IT and learning.
